think of lots more fitting ways of paying tribute. It struck me as being small town stuff, and not worthy of thinking people, tho I understand it's being done everywhere. The parade -- of course that was something else. I liked the flags and the patriotic little chaps that carried them in spite of aching arms and backs. But the idea of burning the Kaiser doesn't appeal to me. From some of the remarks I heard people make, it would seem to me that we are capable of becoming just as inhuman as we accuse the Germans of being, and I hate it. We can not justly condemn and do the same things ourselves, can we? Everyone marched to the Hall and had a big Loyalty meeting. All our family was too done from the picnic we'd had the day before so I was the only loyal one in the crowd. I listened to a silly yap talk, and from his remarks it is plain to be seen that he has never been away from home but he seemed to get by. I wanted
