June 12th,1918. Dearest old Man,- (Guess that is about as respectful as "Dear old girl", isn't it?) You've been treated like a step child for the past few days, haven't you? But it couldn't be helped. I packed my stationary where I could get it when I was on the train, but it seems to me that most of the time since I left Blackburn's has been spent pacing the station platforms or gradually melting in running into my shoes
