100! June 16, 1918. Dear old angelpie, I'll have you notice the number on this letter, and tell me whether or not I deserve the gold medal for faithfulness to me wife. I swear I never wrote a hundred letters to a girl before in so short a time or indeed any time. And, liss-ten to a confession, I probably should not have done it for you if I hadn't been more in love with you than I ever have been with anyone. By all tokens these ought to be some kind of celebration of this event. I know! I'll insert in this the love dollar bill I have been carrying with me all these months and ask you to buy drinks for the crowd with it. If you tell the bartender where all it has been he ought to throw in a couple extra. What have you done with the other ninety-nine? If you are keeping many of them you will soon need a room or two to pile 'em in. Shall I slacken the pace? Probably the quality
