midst of the terrible suspense (Lordy, what a Romeo you've made me!) I surely would have sent my "Are you theah?" cable. And if I have another bad attack I will do it. Then you must hurry back a love message. Willya? Honey girl, you don't mind my being such a nut about hearing from you, do you? Just because you don't care nothing about messages from me is no sign my way is wrong. Now that I feel sure that mail will reach you without running the hazards of having to be forwarded from Cottey I'll send the official photo I have been saving for you. You might take it along and show it to the gang in Cedar Rapids later for it is the only one I can get. I wish I had more pictures to send, but it is verboten for army folks to take pictures up here and I have to depend on the inclinations of outsiders who are neither numerous or active with kodaks. I want to send also some pieces of music, nothing extraordinary but things that are typical of the popular songs the poilees(?) sing. I wonder if folks back home are singing the songs our army sings, f''rinstance "It's a Long, long Trail," "Keep Your Head Down, Allemand," "God Help Kaiser Bill," "It's the Last Long Mile," et cetera.
