(IOWA LULAC GLANCES cont.) 6. -other outstanding awards were presented to the following members: Fort Madison Council:---Jesse Guzman, Victor Vasquez, Sally Mendez Davenport Council:---Terri Vasquez, Ray Ramirez, John Vasquez, Linda Rozo -A special award was presented to Alveno Pena by the Davenport Lulac Council for outstanding work with youth in the area. -Honorary membership to Davenport Council 10 was given to Mr. Joe Englbertson. OFFICERS FOR THE DAVENPORT JUNIOR LULAC COUNCIL were installed by Manuel Banales, Jr. Lulac National President. GUEST SPEAKER was Nick Reyes, Executive Director of the Mexican-American Defamation League. MUSIC for the dance that followed was provided by Los Reales. During intermission awards were presented to two members of Des Moines Lulac Council, Vincent Bejarano and Ila Plasencia. ILA R. PLASENCIA State Secretary 1970 Iowa Lulac Convention ********************** IOWA STATE SUPREME COUNCIL MEETING OF LULAC, August 1, 1970, in DES MOINES, IOWA. From State Director Bill Rocha (prior to the meeting): Purpose of meeting------primarily to review and revise the state constitution. Task for each council-----to convene to study the recommended changes. These amendments aim to affect a change in the state director's fund and in the voting power at supreme council meetings. Each member is requested to keep his copy of the state constitution for the next state supreme council meeting and also for reference at the state convention. Dates to keep in mind----- Next STATE CONVENTION OF LULAC:.....May 22, 1971 at Fort Madison Next STATE SUPREME COUNCIL MEETING:...Febr. 13, 1971 at Davenport (See additional dates on p.10) MINUTES of the above meeting: The Iowa State Supreme Council meeting was called to order on August 1, 1970, at the Midtown Motor Inn, Des Moines, Iowa, by our State Director Bill Rocha at 1:30 p.m. The Lulac Prayer was offered by Jesse Spencer, Chaplain of Lulac Council 306 of Des Moines, Iowa.
