Mary Terronez Page 1 of 3 Mary Terronez [photo] DAVENPORT - Funeral service and Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Terronez, 9, a Davenport resident, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main St., Davenport. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. A Prayer Service will be offered at the funeral home at 4 p.m. Tuesday to begin Visitation. Mary died Friday, September 4, 2009, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Mary Ramierz was born July 26, 1918, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the daughter of Dionisio and Adelaida (Gutierrez) Ramierz. She was united in marriage to Felipe Brono Terronez on May 16, 1936. He proceeded her in death June 15, 1975. Mary Graduated from Palmer Junior College, in Davenport, at the age of 60 with an associates of arts degree. She received recognition from institutions including the University of Iowa Chicano Indian American Student Union, the American Institute of Commerce and the State of Illinois. She was the job coordinator for the Area Board of Migrants. Mary retired at the age of 86 as a teacher's aide for the Davenport School District. Mary was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She was an honorary member of LULAC Council #10, where she received the Presidents Award this past spring. Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Fillers, Davenport, and Irene Terronez, Rio Rancho, N.M.; a son, Randolph (Cathy) Terronez, Dodgeville, Wis; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen (Jesse) Jasso, Davenport; brother, Merle "Perry" (Camellia) Ramirez, Terra Haute, Ind; Daughter in Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Felipe Brono Terronez, daughters, Georgia Terronez, 1989, Virginia Gutierrez, 1993, and a son, John Terronez, 1997.
