YOUTH COUNCIL - ATTENTION!!! -3- Hello... Co-workers, friends and neighbors! This is your friendly, publicity chairman writing you all the 'goodies' of the latest happenings of the NAACP Youth Council! We have decided to stage a 'SELF IMPROVEMENT' MARCH! (By that, we mean to improve ourselves in any ways.) The 'warm-up' consisted of a complete 'overhaul'. The election of officers was held and committee chairmen were appointed, as follows: Officers President............Leroy Marshall Vice-President............Thomas Braxton Recording Secretary............Trudy Marshall Asst. Recording Secretary ............Terry Beecham Corresponding Secretary............Deborah Beecham Treasurer............Toni Ashby Committees and Chairmen Membership...........Leroy Marshall Entertainment...........Larry Derrick Education...........David Johnson Labor & Research..... Steve Beecham Crisis Mag...........Gene James Church Work...........Tom Braxton Freedom Fund...........Deborah Beecham Community Coordination... Terry Beecham Publicity...........John Searcy We have been having very good attendance at our meetings and everyone seems interested in a program of action...a feeling which we hope will continue. If we all put our shoulders to the wheel and push,...surely the wheel of fortune will turn in our favor and we will reach our goal. Since beginning our 'overhauling', we feel we have accomplished a great deal and the 'Self-Improvement' meetings promise to be beneficial as well as interesting! This course includes..., Etiquette for business and social situations, grooming, manners, dress, simple parliamentary procedure, conversational technique, and many other things which we hope will prepare our members to cope with the functions of everyday living with ease. AL members are encourage to bring forth questions and problems to the meetings, so that they might be answered. They will help all of us become better citizens. The young men have surpassed the young ladies, because the first meeting of the latter was cancelled. Come on girls,...lets play 'catch-up'! All parents are urged to support and encourage this project and are more than welcome to visit our meetings. In fact, we urge parental participation in an advisory capacity! Do we hear some volunteers? Our meetings are scheduled to be held, as follows: 1st Thursday....Self Improvement Course (Girls) 2nd Thursday....Self improvement Course (Boys) 3rd Thursday....Executive Committee 4th Thursday....Regular Monthly Meeting (All Improvement meetings will be held at the home of the chairman. Places for all other meetings will be announce, beforehand! The meeting of the Executive Committee, will be held March 17th at the home of Mrs. Shirlene Malcom, Youth Adviser, at 7PM. The Regular meeting will be held, March 24th, at 7PM at the home of Karry Derricks. Remember, our goal is high and,...we need YOU,YOU, and YOU!
