Ike Smalls, Life Membership Chairman of the Iowa State Conference of Branches, National Vice President of the National Association For the Advancement of Colored People, past President of the Iowa State Conference and the Des Moines, Branch, left us a shining example which remains to serve as a guide to all of us, in the work which is yet to be done! MEDGAR EVERS MEMORIAL SERVICES FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 1964 ST. JOSEPH'S HALL 7:30 P.M. SELECTIVE BUYING..! Lever Brothers products...until further notice. ** The National advertising policies of the following companies allows for the removal of their names from our list, for the present. The companies are: Woolworths Jantzen The United States Senate voted in favor of cloture, thereby making passage of civil rights legislation possible. However, even the eventual passage of such legislation will not make the ideals of our Republic a reality. The job which lies before us is larger than ever...and our responsibility continues to grow with the acquisition of the complete rights of citizenship. The need for greater understanding between men becomes more and more evident with the passing of time. Today, then, does not set itself forth as a time for complacency...but, rather, now is the time for all of us, as Americans, to renew our pledge to work unceasingly, until equality of opportunity and full justice for all men, are no longer just ideals of a legalistic reality, but are a part of everyday living for all men...regardless of their race, color or creed!
