Fort Madison, Branch OF THE National Association for the Advancement of Colored People NEWSLETTER IKE SMALLS TROPHY WINNER OF '63 AUGUST 27, 1964 Fort Madison, Iowa 52627 Joseph Dulin, president of the local branch will be leaving the city of Fort Madison, this weekend, to take a job in the Detroit, Michigan school system. He is leaving our branch with a record of accomplishments of which we can be very proud. Our best wishes go with Mr. Dulin. Dr. William Pfautz is also leaving this community and his firm support will be sorely missed by all of us. We sincerely send our best wishes with him, also. The annual NAACP picnic was held on Saturday, August 22. The tremendous cooperation of many members of the branch assured its success. This year as last, Agnes Garland was top ticket seller. Thanks must go to Louis Dade who was responsible for preparation of the chickens and to Phillip and Thad Johnson who built the shelter. In fact, a vote of appreciation goes to each member who made a contribution and this would make a list too lengthy for publication! A final report will be ready for the next branch meeting. The Fort Madison Youth Council has gold NAACP lapel pins for sale. Anyone wishing to buy one may contact Miss Bobette Ashby, 372-4736. SELECTIVE BUYING! Until we are notified, the following are still part of a national campaign!
