Fort Madison Branch OF THE National Association for the Advancement of Colored People NEWSLETTER, IKE SMALLS TROPHY WINNER OF '63, SEPTEMBER 24, 1964 Fort Madision, Iowa. 52267 REGULAR BRANCH MEETING: Sunday - September 27, 1964 Sacred Heart Hall 8 PM This meeting will be the one during which the delegates and alternates to the Iowa State Conference of Branches for 1964 will be chosen by the membership. The date for the conference is October 17th and 18th Iowa,and it will take place in Waterloo, Iowa Its theme will be ....'Take a Giant Step' All persons wishing to arrange for transportation to and from the branch meeting this Sunday, should contact Mrs. Norma Woods - 372-4736 or Miss Virginia Harper - 372-7335. Often when we speak of the local branch as being one of the branches which goes to make up Region 4 of the NAACP... there are many of us who are not aware of just how large an area our particular region covers. For that reason, we are going to list the member states of Region 4 as well as the Regional Officers. The states making up Region 4 are as follows: Iowa. Montana, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Missouri, Wyoming. The Regional Officers are: Chairman: Atty. Robert Wright, Des Moines, Iowa Vice Chairman: Mr. Lawrence McVoy, Omaha, Nebraska Second Vice Chairman: Mr. William Maupins, Duluth, Minnesota Treasurer: Mr. George Walters, Kansas City, Missouri Regional Legal Counsel: Atty. Samuel Jackson, Topeka, Kansas Secretary: Mrs. Pearlie Evans, St. Louis, Missouri Regional Headquarters are maintained in Kansas City, Missouri where the National Staff member for this region has his office. He is: Regional Secretary - Region 4 - Mr. Leonard Carter Youth Council members are asked to be present at the regular meeting of the branch so that they might participate actively in the several new programs which are being started. DON’T FORGET! MAKE CERTAIN YOU ARE REGISTERED…TO VOTE!!! Here, a trip to the registration desk is no reason to fear for your personal safety…in Mississippi, homes and churches are still being bombed!
