MOONSHINE Page Four VISIT WITH THE SLANS (cont'd) I, for one, not knowing what affect Midnight might have upon Ashley, Elmer unlocked the clubroom so I could have a look at its innards. Then we walked several blocks together til Elmer had to turn off and I went on a couple of blocks to catch a trolley home...Elmer had given me Forry's phone number so the following day I phoned the VOMAN (plug gratis) and had a nice chat with him. In the meantime, my mother had taken sick and couldn't make it to the LASFS meeting that night. And if and when I ever learn to play chess I shall always remember that "Early excursions of the queen often end in disaster" or somethin'...seems to be one of Purdue's favorite quotations... Epilogue: Obtained a job at the near-by Armstrong Cork Co. Keeps me busy most of the week. But on Thursday April 18 (in the PM) I managed to attend a LASFS meeting and have applied for membership in same. Had a very entertaining evening...met 4E, EEE, Tigrina, Laney, etc...
