THE VOYAGE OF PROF. SCHMERTZ By "Walt" I. It was in Autumn of '03 that Prof. schmertz, starting from the campus of Squeejee U., took his first trip into time. [ On the right is a image of a man pulling a lever to a machine.] II. When the Prof returned, he was in a sorry condition."What had happened?" We want-ed to know. Had he gone back to a prehistoric era? Had he travelled to the time the Huns were pillaging Europe? Did heget mixed up in some barberic war? III. A few weeks later, Prof was well enough to talk. He had gone back, he told us, some 20 years. It was about 2 0' clock in the morning when he arrived. He found his old house and walked in. Upon entering, he was as-saulted with inhuman fury by a huge figure. [ On the right is a man puzzled, surrounded by star's. there are the words never again next to him.] IV. It was his wife (now deceased) who mistook the Prof. for his-self of 20 years now gone; half dead from his beating, the Prof. managed to crawl back to the time machine and return to '08. Never again, vowedour Prof. would he use the Time-machine. THE END
