Seventy May 5, 1918 Dear Daphne, - My expectations for today were fulfilled. It proved to be one of the most active I have had. A lot of knotty problems turned up and several little battles had to be fought out. In consequence I am aweary and in no proper state of mind to be writing a letter. But the habit of writing to my wife is getting so ingrained that I don't feel that the day is done until I have said something to her. The most is little enough - a feeble substitute for the exchange of thought we should have if I were coming home to you every evening. I wonder where the baron
