you. When I go to Paris as I hope to do before long I intend to pester various organizations in an effort to get information on which to formulate a plan for you. And now that the submarines are playing a losing game and the Gothas are staying at home and the long range gun has quit firing I may even see whether there is by any chance a place over here for which you are needed sufficiently that special permission could be obtained from everybody up to the president to let you come. But I haven't much hope for the latter idea. The wives of correspondents - who are already here - are having no luck at getting into war service. It's a shame they don't take women into the army, isn't it? I think I'll ask Colonel Mumma to look out for you. How would a job in Washington do? Do you think you could play a sonata - a good warlike sonata on a typewriter? Almost I have forgotten to tell you how I enjoyed all the details you gave me of your correspondence with Colonel Mumma. Lady, that man has a wife and several children
