gone the negro sidled up to the colonel. "Sah," he said. "Does y'all know what I fink dis outfit can do if we is attacked by dem Bush Germans?" "No, George, what do you think?" "Well, sah, I think we is gwine spread de news through France." It isn't a fair story as indicating the temper of the blacks; they are really proving to be good fighting men. But, it's a good yarn. Please tell Joe, if you tell him anything, that he'd better confine his leisure moments to the drill manual, not to writing to my wife, if he wants to continue in full health. The poor silly ass!
