the "Afton" I renewed my conviction that being at war in France has its pleasant, as well as unpleasant features. In the quiet stretches of the stream there were thick growths of various kinds of water foliage. Here and there were patches where the surface was white with little flowers like those enclosed. The meadow was one complex mass of bloom, - clover, "buttons of gold," daisies and many flowers that were new to me. I waded into one spot where the daisies were particularly large and numerous and picked a good bunch of them. It is decorating the shrine before your picture now. Don't you like it? The daisies are handsome. 'Ansome to 'ansome.
