151 Daphne dear I came home last night expecting to write to you. When I got here I discovered that I didn't have my pen. As it was eleven o'clock and I was tired I decided to go to bed and write this morning. Now that I have knocked out the necessary morning's work I am in my room to carry out my plan. I'll reach the same mail that a letter written last night would. Nearly all day yesterday I was out on a trip seeking information. I had no very interesting adventures -- we just drove and drove and drove. Part of the time we were close to the front, but it was as quiet as a Quaker meetin'. I didn't hear a gun
