have spent unpacking boxes of _eats_ from Maude & Emil. They get things wholesale, you know, but jus the same, it is fine of them to remember us, isn't it dear? Maude has been suffering from a case of overworked nerves, but she made us oodles & pecks of yellie and yam. She said she hoped you came home in time for some of it. She sent pickles of all sorts -- her own make -- and canned fruit. I want to make some grape juice when grapes are a bit cheaper. At present they are higher than a cat's back. Maude sent us a beautiful flag, and I have run it up on the pole over the house. It looks lovely. She sent coffee enough to last "fum now on" & several pounds of butter, & all kinds of kitchen
