Buxton Was void and useless since it would not Qualify in court so nothing was done but later in the next year when a large group of men were gambling in the bed of dry Bluff Creek the fellow called Slim that was struck by a bullet tried to kill Walker Reasby for I was told that he took good aim by resting his gun across his arm while Walker was running and missed him both times. He later swore that he would kill Walker some day but he never did. Walker Reasby was not an outlaw but trouble followed him about as clost as his shadow. The stage was set by several youngsters to eliminate him in a pool hall owned by Floyd Monroe. It was night when trouble started and some one shot out the lights and they all took a shot in his direction but only one bullet found its mark and it hit a large size dice in his pocket which deflected the bullet ; The next day he was showing Reuben Gaines Sr. the hole in his vest and the dice which he claimed saved his life. I never said anything to my father but I knew there would never be any profit sharing with so much merchandise missing without any dollars and cents to establish a bonafide sale. Charley took inventories several times a year but no one but he would know the financial condition of the remaining stock. He had one clost friend that was about ten years his senior and his name was Tom Peaco and they would go across the street to the livery stable and hire a serry to take girls riding quite often.
