PAGE 12. Buxton He was also a builder of shoes and was a master of his art. All the work that he turned out was perfect. The Railroad track and crossing was only a few feet from the shoe store so he had used it for a quarter mile east to see a lady friend. He told jokes all day and was rather good at psychology in a crude way. I learned quite a good deal just listning to him week after week. His friends were kidding him one day about going down the railroad track to see his lady friend and he says "I only go once a week because you must know there is only so many shots in anything. The annilization of this statement meant: When Male and Female are born and then get to the age of puberty when their sexual drive starts with all organs of the body working in unison together This condition should exist up to a hundred years with the males ejection and the females expulsion; but it could be limited at 60 years; 70 years; 80 years or even 90 years according to ones over indulgence. It was a warm day on pay Saturday evening about 9PM when a young woman over 20 crossed from the South side of the railroad track to the North side going toward the Livery Stable but not in a straight line. When she came to the entrance and seeing nobody in sight she went all the way back to the last stall on the south side and laid down in the straw to sleep off an over indulgence of dissapated liquor. Perhaps she wanted to avoid her friends going home in this condition. She had drunk over her capacity and was unconsciously drunk. Mr. Walker the teamster had been in our family for over twenty five years until his demise was sitting on a box in front of the shoe store that night and witnessed everything that happened in the next two hours. He said some one must have been watching her when she entered the driveway for it was not long before a man came there and went to the rear of the stable to find her and stayed about ten minutes and then came out but he and others kept spreading the news until in the course of two hours eleven men had visited that stall. I knew this woman very well and I doubt that she ever knew just what had taken place while she was unconscious. This barn was also used as a breeding stable which took place in the driveway The owner had a Berkshire English Stud that was a draft horse that weighed over one ton with hair above his ankles that grew down over his hoofs and also a race horse weighing about 1000 lbs. and a Jocky was included to exercise the race horse. When farmers brought their Mares in for breeding everybody in the stores and there about (me included) went over to observe. The Race Horse's name was Talk To Me and in the process he gave no trouble whatever; but with the big draf horse I saw them have as many as three failures in one operation. It was quite an art in knowing how to handle those horses at an opertune time. Too quick or too slow and you would not accomplish anything. I found out that not only was people sometimes incompatible but so were horses.
