Annie took care of Bertha's children: dressing and washing them, cooking and cleaning up every day while Bertha was a Post Office Clerk. After the girls saw that Annie was staying in the house with me; Ruth; Jennie; Minnie; was not around anymore; Frances had returned to colledge; Leona was killed in an Auto. wreck between Butxon and Melcher; Gertrude had gone for the summer to her home at Bedford, Iowa to be permanent for her teaching contract was over, but she did send her sister here to Buxton to find out why I had quit writing.
