My mother got men to lower a rope and pull my dog up from from the Mine Shaft and I am sure that when the dog dropped that last ten feet it started his heart to beat again after he had been dead over one half hour; in 1895 that may have been a new record for bringing the dead back to life. There was an acid throwing at the Sharp End which was caused by a triang affair but nobody was blinded or seriously injured. Baxter Mcdowell was a shot fireman who was well liked and was every body's friend. He stayed in our home for several months and I always considered him to have good ideas and good judgement; but why he returned to light a delaye fuse in the mine tha tdid not explode on time has always been a mystery. You were not to return and light a fuse if it did not explode because any one might have delayed action so he return to light this one he thought had gone out it explosed right in his face , breaking some bones and knocking one eye completely out. He was still conscious when his wife; Grace Coleman before they were marri came to the mine. he slipped the diamond ring off of his finger and gave it to his wife and then started for the Hospital in Albia but enroute he died before they had gone half way. He liked the diamond so much I sold it to him 1 yr. befor My mother was exactly right from her experience when she said that when young girls of 15 and 16 years old get so pressurrized that they forget all abou disease and pregnancy. She had considerable trouble in the family & out the fami People should not Judge people too severely; as a matter of fact they should not judge people at all. Everybody has a closet and in that closet may b skeletons and many people have found no necessity to open the door for a skeleton or two may roll out: I wonder if anybody is left without sin who could cast the first stone. With all the admirable girls, pretty and beautiful, that I had met during my life time there was only one that I wish had been born early enough and [insertion] lived [/insertion] long enough to have met the Boston Strangler. In 1899 just after the Spanish American War a few men passed by our eastern boundry fence, going through the pasture to Clayton Foster's house. he was the Justice of The Peace and they were Taking these two soldiers to be tried and fined for fighting and disturbing the peace which was not an unusual occurence but the odd part of it was: One had one leg and the other man had one arm. In my club there was a dice game in operation on the Pool Table and next to the game handler was Walker Reasby and next to him was Warner Bingham wh made a few accusations directed at no one in particular but Walker Reasby new he was the main target: so he turned around; hawked and spat in Bingham's face because he had just said he would kill anybody if they would just spit on his shoe; he went home; got a shot gun, came back; shot through the 1 inch board and lath and plaster where six b.b. shots buried half way in my fathers shoulder which were easily removed. I hope that was in payment [insertion] For Bingham [/insertion]. He spat in kids faces 8 yr ago
