pm Dec 4 1918 Conger dear, - You'll never guess where I am today so I'll tell you. I'm teaching third grade in Arthur School. There are so many teachers ill that I finally consented to act as a substitute. This is about the fourth chance I've had, thanks to Julie's thoughtfulness but I always hesitated for fear I'd not be competent. But there is nothing to it, really, and it's lots of fun. I don't know just how long I shall be here bit it wont be very long I'm sure, because some of them will soon be all well n'everything. I let Ella take your French newsys to the college this morning to show to the French teacher, but she swore to guard them with her life, and I know she'll do 'er. You don't mind? I had lunch with the teachers this noon. They cook regular feeds and it beats a cold lunch. It's fun to hear all their experiences, during the lunch hour. Like old times.
