Dec. 27, 1918 My Beloved,-- This is the evening of the Day of Days. It's been a beautiful, but by no means, a perfect day. Christmas never can be right without you, dearest, and that's queer because in all my life I've had you only one Christmas. But that one changed the whole world for me. Father & Mother R-- came the twenty third but I didn't see them until Christmas eve. That night I had dinner at Julie's and later in the evening, after the store closed, Mama came and we had a bunking party. We had lots of fun, and we did so wish for you. Mother R. and I "held hands" on the sly several times, and I know each of us had you in mind. In the morning Mama and I sneaked
