[1918] Dear Pap: I haint got no other paper on account of the war but you'll be so glad to see my handwrite that you'll not notice the paper. Ive just been writing up Bible notes and my writing is a trifle shaky its because I got so "wrought-up" over that I haint calmed down yet. You "sure would be surprised" Apollo, if you could see your Daphne now. Shes sitting here trying to sew. Oh no you're not any more surprised at that than we are. We spend most of the time wiping the blood off her fingers. Shes practicing now so that she can inflict her handwork upon you in the form of shirts, pajamas, etc. (It'll be mostly etc, I think).
