MEMO TO: John Larson FROM: Dale M. Bentz This statement will verify the fact that a group of demonstrators was in the University Library on Tuesday, December 5, 1967. Upon being notified on their presence and activity, I called Campus Security at approximately 11:45 a.m. Before the police arrived, however, the demonstrators had left the building. I only saw the last of the individuals leaving the front of the Library. Witnesses claim they were in the building only nine or ten minutes. Unfortunately, I cannot identify anyone who participated. The group was organized and led by Albert G. Marian, a graduate student and instructor in Rhetoric, who carried a bull horn. His activities on the front steps of the Library were observed by Professor Clyde Kohn, Head of the Geography Department. Apparently, Mr. Marian did not accompany the protestors on their march through the building but he was and can be identified by Mr. Seymour Weinstein as having been the leader of the group leaving the premises.
