HUMAN RIGHTS RALLY MEMORIAL DAY MAY 30 NAUVOO, ILLINOIS Sponsored by: St. Mary's Academy SCHEDULE FOR THE RALLY ( Daylight Savings Time) MAY 30, 1964 2:30PM - All participants in the march asked to assemble at the Academy 3:00PM - Adults and students will march from the academy to the Nauvoo Park 3:30PM - Program Speakers and their subjects, will be: Reverend John Martin, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eddyville, Iowa - "The Moral Aspects of Prejudice" Reverend Leonard Stark, St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Burlington, Iowa - " The Significance of Non-Violent Movement" Mrs. Marjorie Lewis, Fort Madison, Iowa - "How It Feels To Be A Negro In This Area" The Sisters and students of St. Mary's Academy, are giving all concerned Americans who reside in this area, an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the fact that they are in favor of civil rights legislation being passed in the U.S. Senate. This human rights struggle is not just for the Negro who is being denied his rights, however,...it has come into being because the Negro has been treated as a second-class citizen. When the time comes and the battle has been won, all Americans, all minorities and all men, regardless of their race, color or creed will reap the benefits! The time to stand up and be counted...is NOW,...NOW is the time for positive action! Attend and participate in the Memorial Day, Human Rights Rally...and, by doing so, demonstrate positively how you stand among those Americans who are concerned with seeing that our country will be the land of men where justice and freedom are a reality....for every man no matter what his race color or creed! DON't FORGET! WRITE TO YOUR SENATORS....URGING THEM TO SUPPORT THE CIVIL RIGHTS BILL !
