DI May 8, 1970 [photo] Police Arrest Student Leader Steve Bright, president of the Student Government Association of the University of Kentucky, flashes a peace sign to photographers as he is taken into custody by police. He was charged, along with eleven others arrested on the Lexington campus, with disorderly conduct. The charges stemmed from a violation of the order not to conduct unauthorized meetings on the campus —AP Wirephoto Face Suspension: Boyd He said the emergency policy was effective immediately and would remain in effect until in his judgment, "the present level of tension on the campus has subsided and there are no further threats of violence to persons or property." The Code sections specified in Boyd's statment were Sections 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 under General Conduct Regulations. Section 5 disallows intentional disruption of the orderly processes of the University, interference in the use of University facilities by those persons entitled to use them, and inciting others to so. Section 7 prohibits unauthorized entry or occupation of University property, Sections 8 through 11 forbid vandalism, possession of firearms and assault or harassment of any person on campus or any University event.
