CHRONOLOGY April 18 - May 17 Saturday, April 18 -- Distruption by 200 demonstrators forced cancellation of Pershing Rifle competition at New Recreation Building. Monday, April 20 -- Announcement of pending legal action against Saturday's demonstrators. Wednesday, April 22 -- Earth Day parade and related clean-up activities were moderately supported. Friday, April 24 -- Attempt by 75 students to express demand of ending ROTC to President Boyd and Dean Stuit failed. Monday, April 27 -- One o'clock explosion in downtown Iowa City. FBI investigation begun. Tuesday, April 28 -- Arson fire in Johnson County selective service office. Wednesday, April 29 -- Dormitory disciplinary trouble led to march on civic center and some rock throwing which was calmed by Frank Smiley, city manager. Thursday, April 30 -- Stoke-in marijuana party by 75 students at Quadrangle, men's dormitory. Police did not act. Friday, May 1 -- Disruption by 700 demonstrators of awards ceremony at New Recreation Building results in some minor injuries. Monday, May 4 -- Marches on National Guard Armory, Old Capitol, and Civic Center and numerous rock throwing incidents lead to arrest of fifty-one. Tuesday, May 5 -- Iowa City council votes curfew power to Mayor Loren Hickerson. --Afternoon and evening rallies disrupt traffic and entertain with music until confrontation with officials disperses crowd. Wednesday, May 6 -- Previously scheduled boycott of classes and noon rally developes into peaceful "party" and sleep-in. --Assembly injunction (see appendix)
