did, and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons when the city's finest are out there parading on foot, in coaches, and in cars a very interesting place. Living in this Champs Elysees quarter I'm getting to see the Paris that most Americans know. Before, when I was here, I spent most of my time in the Latin quarter, the old, old Paris. It is much more quaint and fascinating but not so beautiful as the more modern section. I can't help wishing you were here and thinking of many things we should do together if you were. Oh, if something only might happen that I could come! I hope you'd be ready to do it if the opportunity came. Would you know how to go about getting your passport and steamer accomodations? Of course you would. In consequence of my walks today I feel fine 's evening. The open air and the exercise were good tonics. All morning I worked like the devil. Then after lunch I took one of the cars and went to the Gare de l'Est to see about my baggage The trunk and box had come but my bedding roll is still missing. I suppose it's gone forever. It is good to get my trunk again after living out of a bag for four months. By way of celebration I got out my bathrobe and wore it to the bathroom when I cleaned up for diner.
