PM Jan 20, 1919 My Sweetheart, - Because I am not in a very happy frame of mind, I should not write to you, but because I haven't written to you for several days and because I love you so, here am I writing. I'm dreadfully discouraged, dear. Something is awfully wrong with our money matters, and I have, as a last resort, followed the advice you gave me while we were together, and gone to Ernest for advice. From the way we figure, the bank owes us something over two hundred dollars but instead of that, they constantly notify me of overdrafts, and it worries me to death. Mr. McChesny is very kind but he has been very unbusiness like. I have received no notice of the Dec. allotment, nor any credit of it. But the last time he notified me of an overdraft (Jan. 9th) he mentioned the allotment having come the early part of December. If it had come, there couldn't possibly be an overdraft, so Ernest is going over to straighten things out. He has to go, anyway. I haven't written a check in
