20..................................................................................FAN sized hill several miles from town, where one of the members and I spent an average of three nights a week during the summer of '37. At that time I was working for my Astronomy Merit Badge in the Scouts and believe me, it's no cinch. Activities at the club meetings included talks on the different phases of astronomy, reviews of current astro-science articles and some science fiction, and the development of our rocket dia-grams and plans. We had made and flown several balsa models of the salt-petre, carbon, sulphur type, which, although they flew very well, did not forward our knowledge of rocketry very much. It was always our fondest dream to make a gaso-line rocket capable of sustained flight with a mouse or guinea pig, but it was never developed. However, I do believe that the SJARS was of some value and would to this day, welcome back its reorganization as a more integral part of the science-fiction program. [Line break] [Underlined title] Road Leading to Success The secret of success is not a secret. Nor is it something new. Nor is it something hard to secure. To become more successful, become more efficient. Do little things better. So work that you will require less supervision. The least su-pervision is needed by the person who makes the fewest mistakes. Do what you can do and what you should do for the institution for which you are working, and do it in the right way, and the size of you income will take care of itself. Let your aim ever be to better the work you are doing. But remember always that you can not better the work you are doing without bettering yourself. The thoughts that you think, the words that you speak, and the deeds you perform are making you either better or worse.
