went to help mort dident get through we ironed opened our last sack of sugar to day wed Oct 2 A fine day pretty warm I baked 7 loaves of fine bread Father & Mother started to attend Old Mrs Haffers funeral got as far as brainard & Father got sick had to come home couldent go to Elgin where the funeral was to be held he is better this eve the boys helped Mort finish thrashing this afternoon it is like a summer eve it is so warm th Oct 3 A gloomy day had a hard storm last night rained hailed a little wind blew hard thundered & lightned Lena is making me another waist
