THE FANTASITE 20 material is at least good, but I prefer the Westwood boys' 'Call for Captain Past'. I've been waiting for such a satire for a long time, and Gaetz and de la Ree please me greatly. Doc Lowndes and Dick Wilson's screwy drammer is quite amusing. Now if damon will only improve the hectoing! Incidentally, if you are listening damon, keep up the payment for stories plan no matter what dope shoots off his big mouth! Eclipse: June. The symbolical cover is the best thing I've seen in quite a while. Sayn's perspective presentation is well done. Tucker boring (what's wrong, Bob?); Fortier interesting; Herc the Collector, you male up your mind, I haven't decided yet; and Burtom and Bridges are up to their usual standard, which is good. Bonfire: #1. Well mimeod with hectoed cover. Official organ of the NFFF,which every actifan should join. The constitution is not yet complete, but what's there gets the double-o, Art. To Stink Up Your Collection The Damn Thing: May. Yerke prints something Daugherty politely asked him not to; and 5 or 6 others attack something or other. Personally, I don't like this kind of tripe. If this is an example of the new type of Damn Thing, I'd rather it go to a four letter word starting with the letter H. Good Enuf--- Cyclops: #1. Ballyhoo for Starlight. Nuf sed. Polaris: June. By all means, Paul, you must continue Polaris. Tucker's tale bears signs of Tucker humor commingled with a bit of good writing. Wollheim recalls faintly something I read about a hat once. Only it led into an interesting mystery. HONORABLE MENTION: Most colorful fanzine: FANFARE, FANTASITE, and YHOS. Best technically: FANTASIA, with Specula and other Astra pubs running a close second. Best cover: Sayn for Eclipse, and Widner's for YHOS. Best new department: Lynn Bridges' 'Editorations' in YHOS. Best fiction. Joe says FANTASIA, but I say POLARIS. (at least consistently.) Most novel: I agree; 'tis the Shangri-LA Record. Most disagreeable: see my review of the Damn Thing. Biggest for your money: The Southern Star, 40 pages for 10c. Remember- 'FRISCO in 1942
