DECEMBER ISSUE OF FANTASY-TIMES OUT OCTOBER 15 (From Page 2) really was a success, and I think that a few more than 4 pros were present.(We stated that Denvention was a success, as for the pros, we were not there, maybe there were more than 4, maybe not, has anyone a list of those present, so that we can be sure? From what we heard"about 4" were there, maybe we heard wrong, we'd like to see that list!) Well here's wishing you the best of luck---and enclosed is a subscription to FANTASY-TIMES; keep 'em rolling.(Thanks for the sub, we'll not only keep her rolling, we'll keep her flying.) JOHNNY CUNNINGHAM of the BSFWRS writes next---in part---"You mentioned that a convention in Austration of scientifictionists had been held, with 65 in attendance. If you speak of the Second Sydney Science Fiction Conference (help on April 13) your articale is a DASTARDY LIE. There were ONLY 13 fans there, and not 65.(We obtained the information from a letter from Australia in THRILLING WONDER STORIES, which we learned after publication in FANTASY-TIMES that the letter was a lie, someone in Aussie country trying ot be funny, so we are correcting it here Only 13 attended that Conference.) That's all for letters this issue, but we'd like to mention that the BSFWRS, who are aiding British fans by supplying them with much needed American magazines, are in need of funds to keep this aid going. All interested in this wonderful work should write to JOHN CUNNINGHAM, 2050 GILBERT STREET, BEAUMONT, TEXAS. James V. Taurasi editor WITH FAMOUS FANTASTIC MYSTERIES: The December 1941 issue will present AFTERGLOW by England, with some of the best PAUL inside illustrations we've ever seen. They make one read the story even if he didn't want to. The cover illustrates this story and is a top-notcher by Finlay. THE LOST GARDEN is a 1920 reprint of Max Brand, with a beautiful FInlay interior. Also in this issue is CRIMES OF THE YEAR 2000 one of a series of detective-stf by RAY CUMMINGS from DETECTIVE FICTION WEEKLY. FINLAY has been doing all the recent covers of ARGOSY, and also some of the interior illustrations. He just seems to fit the magazine. The NOV 1941 issue of SHADOW COMICS contains ARMAGEDDON reprinted from the August 1941 UNKNOWN. The same illustration is used for both. The author of the yarn is Fredric Brown, [tho?] his name is not mentioned in the reprint. Both magazines are published by STREET AND SMITH. In the same issue you'll find JOHN W CAMPBELL's IRON MUNRO, The Astounding Man, a cartoon taken from Campbell's great serial published in Tremaine's Astounding of years oago. John W Campbell informed us that he has on hand enough CARTIER drawings for about 3 more issues of UNKNOWN WORLDS. Watch ASTOUNDING for some startling news in the near future. Something that'll make fan's, authors and regular reader's eyes pop. Thanks for the many letters received, sorry in the delay in answering them. Will do so first chance I get. Jimmy Taurasi
