24...................................................................FAN SLANTS [title and author's name on left side of page inside box.] FORTHCOMING FANTASY FILMS By Cpl Forrest J. Ackerman [text is in Arial font] [title underlined] Haunts Over Hollywood: The film industry, apparently under the impression that "The Ghost Goes Best", is reaching into its vest pocket for coin to screen a flood of phantomovies, everything from terror tales to spookcomedys. I guess it all began with "The GHOST & the Guest". I bliev [believe] Henry Aldrich is skeded to see a GHOST. And the Mex Spitfire a G. RKO has announced an "Amorous GHOST" on its pro-duction line-up & "The GHOST Ship". MGM will offer "The Canterville GHOST". While Universal's "Mummy's GHOST" is in production. There are also such variations as the eagerly anticipated "Phantom of the Opera", "Phantom Lady" (which may or may not be supernatural) & I un-derstand Simone Simon is a very nebulous character in the currently shooting "Curse of the Cat People." There is to be a new "Dr Mabuse", 4th in this series, the last of which, directed by Fritz Lang in French, "The Last Will of Dr Ma-buse", has recently been releast [released] around the US.....Lang is looming large as a scientifilm director again, with a cavalcade of America pland, [planned] himself as producer, [rest of sentence underlined] extending into the future! And he is reported as intrested in a production of "Girl In the Moon" on the New York stage--prior to its refilming by Paramount....There is to be a "Cagliostro"....."Tarzan Goes West" in the next Johnny Weissmul-ler version; another outfit's filming "Tarzan & the Shiek". There's to be a "Cobra Woman" & a "Woman of Horror"...And the lethal man who isnt there returns for "The Invisible Man's Revenge".....Another return is "Return of the Vampire", while Curtis Siodmak dreams up a masculine offspring for "Son of Dracula", in addition to doing the script on his own "Donovan's Brain"....Universal is produc-ing "The Mad Ghoul", "Ali Baba & the 40 Thieves" (in technicolor) & "Zarya"...."The Lodger", "The Uninvited" & "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" shoud [should] be 3 'hyper' pix, in the class of "Flesh & Fantasy". Other suggestive titles include "The Screaming Skull", "7th Vic-tim", "Dead Men Walk", "The Black Raven", "The Devil's Apprentice", & 20-Fox is producing one "horror" film per month!....There's to be a musicla, necessarily futuristic, dealing with the postwar world, en-titled "When the Lites Go On Again". And--yep--"The Hep-Cat People"! Dammit, I read somewhere that either Chaplin or Cagney, between whom ofcorse [of course] there's no similarity, were considering [underlined] some Thorne Smith property they ownd [owned] as a future vehicle. Not very definite, I admit!...Universal goes whole hog in "Chamber of Horrors", whose cast is to include Karloff, Rains, Lugosi, Lorre, Chaney, Hull, Ospenska-wolf, Invisible Man, Mad Ghoul, Dracula & assorted zombies, vampires & monstrositys...At Republic it's Bond's Blue Book "Magic Staircase"! Daugherty crashes films, now Ack-Ack! Walt's appearing in "See Here, Pvt Hargrove" as a rookie. And a real, genuine corporal servi-fan, initials FJA, will be seen (if U come with a telescope & look real quick) in the filmization of "Hey, Rookie!" If U see the pic, watch the opening scene closely. Two buses descend the hill to the Reception Center at Ft. MacArthur. When they turn & head strate [straight] for U, watch to the left of the screen. In the background is a bench on which sevral [several] soldiers are seated. Others are [underlined] standing behind them. The one with some papers in his hands--thats I'm! Be sure to bring your copy of FAN SLANTS to the theater with U to identify the ACKtor: U can't enjoy the picture without the program!
