31. Return To The Future ************************************************************ was, with the Acceptors. "However, the Acceptors looked upon the situation from an opposite viewpoint. They remained obstinate in their belief that the future was alterable, so to speak . . . and that it was thereby possible to elude their evil destiny by premeditation. "For the apalling discovery of the coming of the Dark Star caused the social eruption. Now men saw, with their own eyes, the beginning of events described long before by you and they were afraid. Men looked to the heavens and saw their doom. . . . With impending destruction looming nearer and ever nearer, as the Dark Star approached, the controversy between the factions surged to such heights that mankind all but exterminated itself even before the Dark Star. . . . they called it Omega in those days. . , approached proximity. "During the last days, men forgot about the Dark Star in their mad conquest for victory. All Europe and Asia were about to burst into the flame of war! Transpiring events quickly immeshed all the remaining nations of the world. The American nations were struggling against incredible odds to remain neutral and it was feared that any hour would see the western world drawn into the insane conflict. Newscasters ignored everything but information concerning the new Foreign Crisis. Riots and crime ran rampant. Only the handful of religious people left after ninety four years of degeneracy remained calm. They saw in it the Prophecy of the Bible coming true: 'I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,' saith the Lord, 'which is, and which was, and which is to come . . .
