[handwritten] FANTAGLIMMERINGS by Robert Madle [illustration of a man operating a spaceship] The Columbia Broadcasting System presents "The Space Explorers," a series of astronomical discussions every Tuesday at 5:45 PM. The planets, asteroids, satellites, etc., are discussed in a style similar to Campbell's articles now appearing in ASTOUNDING STORIES. Also of interest to the fantasy fan is the Zenith program, presented Sunday evenings over the National Broadcasting System. The program consists of discussions and stories pertaining to mental telepathy. Scienti-radio fans will also be pleased to hear that the Columbia Workshop is now back on the air........ Donald A. Wollheim is planning to compose a book-length "History of Science Fiction," in which every phase will be elaborately discussed and explained. Mr. Wollheim contends that the completed book will contain over one hundred mimeographed pages. It will be a Michel-Wollheim publication......... "Strange Vision" by Eando Binder was original accepted by FANTASY MAGAZINE, but when FM was discontinued the yarn was submitted to ASTOUNDING STORIES and was readily accepted........... Raymond Van Houten is now in the process of re-organizing Bloomer's defunct EFAA. Van Houten wrote to Bloomer expressing his desire to continue the organization, and after considerable delay, Bloomer agreed to allow Van Houten to go through with his plans. TESSERACT will be hectographed instead of mimeographed....... Henry Kuttner has contracted to author a series of articles concerning "futuristic movie stuff" for THRILLING WONDER STORIES. The first in the series is entitled "Hollywood on te Moon." Inspired by his success in other field of writing, Hank is now writing for SPICY MYSTERY........... number of old fantasy films are being revived in Los Angeles. Among these are "The Lost World" and "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari."..........Dr. E. E. Smith has beguna story which, he states will be finished within the next two years.......... Willis Cenover was visiting Virgil Finlay in September Willis described him as being "... very likable guy, as well as a most painstaking worker." Willis is planning to issue some sort of a fan publication within the next few months. Whether FANTASY MAGAZINE will be the magazine is a moot question..... Glenn Morris and Eleanor Holm Jarrett are the principle players in the Tarzan picture being filmed. Morris is an Olympic champion, and everyone knows who Eleanor Holm Jarrett is..... Milton Rothman had a story concerning how football will be played in the future published in his college magazine. It was entitled "Airball" and was illustrated by the author....... Lawlor, the art editor of ASTOUNDING, is not the same Lawlor that illustrated AMAZING STORIES back in the Gernaback era........ David M. Speaker received an acceptance from AMAZING STORIES back in 1930 when he was just 13 years of age. "The Braineaters of Pluto" was written by Kenneth Sterling when he was thirteen years old also......... Georgie Hahn has been attempting to crash Coronet, Esquire, and the other "culture" publications for the past year. Little Georgie now smokes "Russian Embassies." He continuously looks for his high-priced cigarettes, and he seems to have reached the peak this time. "Russian Emassies" are priced at 35c for a pack of ten......... Hugo Cernaback's latest venture is called GADETS and covers all the latest inventions. I wonder when Hugo will come back to the science fiction field...... (continued on page 12)
