Onda remembered with a saddened heart the sufferings of his people in the cold, dark void of interstellar space. At last the long fight against the Eadays and the common enemies, cold and darkness,began to tell. The humans on Arnah were almost extinct, and now, after crossing 168 trillion miles of space from Vega, the final horror of a collision of planets. Sime looked at his friend in surprise when Onda commenced to mutter softly to himself. "A race of humans.....supreme beings on their world, soon to be snuffed out.....still we are a dieing race...but..." "Sime!" the single word was almost shouted. "Call the men to arms; We go to war, to battle to death, that another race can live!" Through the last great human city on Arnah Ximm, boomed the solemn awe-inspiring tones of the monster war-drum. From every street, into the great square. poured the metal-clad hosts of Arnah. Above them, on a raised stone platform, stood their leaders, Sime and Onda. Like the rest, they were dressed in shining metal' Sime neverously twisted a large ring on his finger. A curious thing, that ring. Made of some sort of purple stone and gleaming blue metal, it depicted a mighty bird with a struggling Esday in its dripping claws. Suddenly Sime turned to Onda. "Just how do you propose to save this stranger world? Even if the Esdays are kept from their purpose of destroying it, our worlds are doomed to collide." Onda shook his helmeted head, while a grim, bitter smile played over his lips. "No, I think if we capture the Esdays' machinery, we can reverse the charge, thereby blowing up Ar
