1944 FAPA ELECTION RESULTS ...as corrected by Al Ashley from the report of Walt Daugherty, Mel Brown, and Phil Bronson. Quoting from a letter by Al, dated August 18: "Incidentally, the sheets of results of the election I sent you were copied from Daugherty's report. However closer scrutiny showed discrepancies between certain sets of figures and the total vote. I re-checked the count and found the errors. Am enclosing corrected list for your info." The mimeod sheets*, then, will not be used as stated on the bottom of page two. The correct results follow: PRESIDENT: Lowndes 22 Chauvenet 14 Laney 1 SECRETARY-TREASURER: Schwartz 22 Tucker 8 Unger 3 Swisher 1 Evans 1 No vote 1 AMENDMENT TO INCREASE DUES: For 35 Against 2 VICE PRESIDENT: Ashley 15 Stanley 13 Wollheim 9 OFFICIAL EDITOR: Shaw 31 Laney 4 Rosenblum 1 Warner 1 PETITION TO EXPEL DEGLER: For 19 Against 14 No vote 4 AMENDMENT TO RAISE PUBLISHING REQUIREMENTS: For 31 Against 6 *In Daugherty's report, the "No vote" count was omitted from the Sec-Treas column, and three votes for Laney for OE, 18 to expel and 13 not to expel Digler were given. Grateful thanks are hereby extended to Pvt Art Widner Jr for his entirely unsolicited contribution of the clever drawing on the cover. PFC. PAUL SPENCER'S MESSAGE: No-one is more aware than I that pages 2 and 4 ((of JANUS)) are superb examples of the sort of thing that any self-respecting mimeographer chucks into the waste-basket. But I was just experimenting with the machine (at the local USO) and at the time didn't know how to remedy the situation. And it can't hurt anybody to get such things in his mailing--unless, of course, he tries to read it. P.S.: So help me, my next effort, if any, will be legible clear through or will not be distributed. MAGAZINE MAILED SEPARATELY received by your official editor since the June 1944 mailing have been: Tucker's FAPA VARIETY for June, Shaw's THE FAPA BULLETIN Vol 2 No 1, and Walt Daugherty's DIRECTORY OF FANDOM. A list such as this will appear in all future issues of the FA--at least, all under my editorship, and I suggest that future OEs follow suit. 3
