I look for a vote of at least fifty on the amendments proposed this time. And from my name on the list of sponsors, you know where I stand on them. Vote YES for all three! I hereby issue a "Hands Off!" warning on the FAPA index and yearbooks suggested by our noble President Lowndes. They're mine, all mine, chums. Please don't get sore at me for confiscating them, but as work on the index is already well under way, there's no use in anyone else starting now. This index, to make it definite, should be in the next mailing (if Brother Wollheim finishes checking the lists someday!) and will cover every mailing up to June 1944. From there on the yearbooks will take over, but I'm not worrying about that until next year. The Second Presidential Message came in before the membership list had been mimeod, but after it had been stencilled. Therefore, I had to remove Degler's name and replace it with that of Gerry de la Ree, who was first on the waiting list, thus causing the alphabetical, numerical, and mimeographical messes on pages 8 and 9, and making it look as if Suddsy didn't know what he was talking about. (Of course, he doesn't, but this time it wasn't his fault.) Anyway, the President ordered it, and how can a mere dictator buck the President? And on the same general subject, the FA is being made up without a dummy, the material being typed on stencil more or less in the order it is received. Go ahead, complain, and see how far it gets you! Might as well get all the requests off my chest now (dept.): I repeat the plea of former OEs that you send at least 70 copies of your publication. There are numerous reasons for this. The slight extra labor and cost may pay dividends in surplus stock sales in the future. You may not have counted exactly right, and then the extra copies won't be extra t all. The same will hold true if you inadvertently include some defective copies. (That happened this mailing, and it was lucky that I spotted the error in time.) Another item I'd urge a few of you to pay more attention to is the wrapping of your packages. A couple were in lousy condition when they arrived, and after the mailman gently heaved them up the front stairs there was almost nothing left of the wrapping at all. I'm glad to say that the majority were not guilty of this charge, though. Yes, the mailing is late. (I was hoping if I didn't say anything you might not notice it, but I guess that's hopeless. More than a week late, in fact. You may tar and feather me at any time you're ready. Needless to say, my intentions were the best. One of the main reasons for the delay is that the problem of how the elections came out was not completely settled until the middle of the week after the official mailing date. On that date itself, in fact, I was in Buffalo conferring with Ashley and Wollheim (our own "Presidential Agent") on the whole business. Even if I had been at home, though, the bundle would not have been mailed on September second. There were a couple of requests to hold things up that I simply couldn't ignore. Two of them came via telegram, yet! Another one came from local member Larry Shaw (though ordinarily I pay absolutely no attention to his wishes). On top of that, there was a minor problem of obtaining enough money to finance the mailing.... Bottom of page, so the list of items in the 29th mailing is on the next one. 17
