England 18 November 1944 Dear Earl & family Have had in mind for some time to write you and find out why you didn't look we up when you were here in England. Am sure you must have been in the City where our headquarters locate as it is one of the main cities here. Would have been fine to have seen you. Have run across several fellows over here that know you. Well I have completed my first year in England and surely hope that it is my last one. Not so (illegible) because of England but because I want to get home. I have had some very interesting experiences and have at the same time done a lot of work and put in some long hours. I had a front seat on Dday and have spent a lot of time in France since Dday. I am also gunnery officer on the staff organization that has charge of U.M bases in France, so keep on the go most of the time. Spent a week in Paris
