United States Marines 28 April 1943 Dear Earl, I have been transferred again - on order from the Bureau - to: U.S. Naval Hospital, New River, N.C. That is only 15 miles from my former assignment, with the Marines at Field Hospital but is a separate and distinct activity - under Navy entirely - and has no connection in operation or organization with the Marine Corps. So I'm "back in the Navy". The Naval Hospital will be commissioned and open for receiving of patients on Saturday - May 1st. What my duties will be I do not know but the prospects for a pleasant tour of duty there look quite promising. I thought you would like to know, because of the change of address for the paper. Am feeling OK - but - Oh! so hot down here. As ever Roy
