U.S. NAVY PRE-FLIGHT SCHOOL Del Monte, California Sep. 9. 1943 Dear Earl: Sorry not to have written sooner but have been busy trying to get lined up out here - We had a fine trip out here with the Bob Kinnan's (He was my roommate at Chapel Hill, former coach at Mustine and later Ath. Dir at Washington U. at St. Louis). Tess and kids staid in Los Angeles for the first ten days until I located a house here in Monterey. They have been here with me now for over two weeks. We have a fine house about one mile from the school. This school is located in the big Del Monte Hotel, that was taken over by the Navy. The Corp. that owns hotel also owns most of this 17 mile peninsula that juts out in the ocean - its remarkable to me how much wild life there is on this peninsula. We were driving home the other evening and a red fox ran in front of car. We have lots of quail right in our
