Reason: continuous distribution of energies and ranges of particles. Longest range ones will probably just get through the crystal, and (((delta) E)/((delta) X)) for such particles will definitely distinguish protons from electrons. But the predominance of pulse will probably be small, due to partial penetration. ------------ Perhaps better to use two fold G.M. tube telescope so that will know particles actually get through.
