"Desirable" Dynamic range 1/4 Mev {electrons ~1 Mev} - 20 Mev {Protons} Might settle for 1/2 to 10 Mev. --------------------------------------------- If counting rate, say 100/second, then average interval between pulses is 10,000 µs. A pulse width of ~ 400 µs should be O.K. without serious counting overlap (~5%) --------------------------------------------- 0.5 Mev in crystal gives ~1 volt out (as of my San Angelo gear) of photomultiplier. Therefore, Need gain only of ~5 at most. Therefore, Try one stage with C. F. feeding subcarrier.
