26 September Last weekend J. Winckler & K. Anderson called me from Ottumwa, Iowa to ask if we had any spare rubber balloons. They were in the midst of a latitude survey of vertical intensity and had run out of balloons. They arrived here late Saturday evening the 17th and I gave them some 30 to 40 J-2000 Dewey-Almy balloons of 1952 & 1953 vintage. Winckler promised to try to get our Navy contract reimbursed via Marshall Kirth in Minneapolis (~$1000). Kinsey Anderson reported in today for his regular tenure as a research associate.
