Laurence Cahill (& perhaps Robert Johnson) will proceed with the adaptation of Varian-Packard proton precession magnetometer for rocket use for an extensive I.G.Y. program. (Cahill is just now finishing an M.S. thesis in development of balloon borne version and one high altitude flight and ground survey.) 18 April 1956 On 17 April 1956 I held a major wind-up session on I.G.Y. plans and projects with my research students. --------- Substantial budgetary support now seems assured. -------- ~$390,000 total. (probable for I.G.Y. period)..
