3/6/58 Call from W.H. Pickering today 1) Explorer I still giving workable cosmic ray data on 1 March (at least) 2) Concerns that S.U.I.will probably get another try but no public statement at present. 3) Explorer I now fairly well established to be tumbling with a 7 second period. Started off with pure axial spin, "very soon" went into flat spin or tumble and has continued on with very constant rate. Apparently the wire antenna resonate somehow & modulate the r.f. signal !
