supporting evidence : (?) 1) high latitude limit of aurorae corresponds to high latitude limit of outer zone ! 2) aurorae move to higher latitudes at solar minimum, to lower latitudes during solar maximum! Appears to correspond to the undisturbed outer limits of the earth's magnetic field! lesser density of solar plasma! The above argument is obviously inconclusive but it appears to illustrate a type of consideration which may be fruitful!
